Keiji, also known as "Hiodoshi," holds a prominent position as one of the commanders within the Yamato Special Assault Unit, the Red Crow. Renowned for his mastery of the Kobudo one-sword style and his proficiency in Yabusame, the art of horseback archery, he is equally skilled as a pilot of the Winder lightweight Synchro exoArmor. His diverse combat expertise has earned him the moniker Hiodoshi, or the Red Devil Samurai.

During Operation Shadow Den, a high-stakes rescue mission, Keiji was assigned the critical task of extracting hostages from terrorists. These terrorists, holding officials from Pacific Terminal Ltd. (PTL) captive, intended to fill the room with gas, risking the lives of both captives and rescuers to incite panic and undermine the Yamato government's actions. Keiji, anticipating this dire scenario, successfully rescued the PTL officials from a heavily guarded area with a mere five-person squad, accomplishing the mission without casualties.

Among the rescued PTL officials was a member whose clan shared a historical connection with Keiji. Despite a previous drift in their relationship due to Keiji's clan's declining fortunes, the successful rescue mission prompted them to reevaluate their stance. Recognizing Keiji's extraordinary abilities, they pledged their support to the heroic samurai, believing that his actions would positively alter their family's fate.
